Mahi Tahi for Manaia Event - Manaia Water Reserve - 6+7th June, 2024

At the foot of Manaia, Whangārei District Council administer reserve lands which have been recently cleared of a pine plantation, found at the end of Neptune Drive.

Weed Action Native Habitat Restoration Trust has been supporting the Manaia Bush Recovery Group and other passionate locals who have been controlling weeds on this site which has become overrun since the pine forest was removed. This work will continue through a collaboration led by Weed Action Native Habitat Restoration Trust with participation from NorthTec, Manaia Bush Recovery Group, SWAT team and Patuharakeke on the 6th and 7th June, 2024.

As an experienced crew - Aki Tai Here will lead out some of the field experiences available.

This mahi tahi event is part of the Pilot Project 2023/24 which seeks to build local mātauranga informed collaboration for Native Habitat Restoration. The day can be physically demanding and includes a few safety requirements for those taking part - field work is not for beginners - we also welcome those who wish to tautoko but may not be able to climb the steep areas off track to join us at the meeting point to learn more - and a few cups of tea!
